Why is there no Paintbrush tool in Illustrator iPad? (Or any other Adobe mobile app?)

Can anybody explain to me why Adobe has never implemented an actual Paintbrush Tool in Illustrator iPad or on any non-desktop app? They seem to always include the Blob Brush, but to me this isn't useful since the strokes are un-editable once they've been created.

Affinity Designer on iPad has their "Vector Brush Tool" which includes basically all the features that the Paintbrush Tool needs (i.e. controls for size and pressure, creates editable lines made of vector points) and it ALSO includes a pretty great feature that I don't think exists in Illustrator which allows you to edit the pressure along the stroke as well. (Affinity Designer also lets you freely rotate the canvas with gestures as you draw, which strangely Illustrator does not... but that's for another post!)

It seems like Adobe has the opportunity here to seize the lead in mobile vector illustration (like Procreate did for mobile pixel illustration), but until then I guess people like me will have to stumble along in the relatively clunky Affinity Designer.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. This feature is not available in Illustrator on the iPad yet. However, we're working on it. I'd request that if you could take out a moment and post this as a feature request here: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/. This way, you will keep getting all the updates related to this feature and other users can also upvote, which would help us prioritize.

In the meanwhile, the document from iPad syncs automatically to the desktop, so you can use the desktop Ai to work with Paintbrush tool.

Rendering Illustrator for iPad mostly useless. Why didn't they do proper UX research before they developed this app?

You can post feature requests via the App Settings directly in the app.

There is also a Slack channel for Illustrator on the iPad where you can discuss thiss directly with the developers. This forum is 95% not Adobe staff.

I have just downloaded Illustrator for Ipad so excited with the possibility to draw on the tablet instead of the laptop. But WHAAAAT - no paintbrush tool!!! This is my main tool. The absence of it makes Illustrator for Ipad literally useless for me.
