Why the layers are not sowing on the illustrator?

Hi,
I'm new to Adobe Illustrator, so this is most likely just user error. However, when I open a stock photo I just bought from Adobe Stock, it doesn’t show individual layers. It only appears as if it were a PNG or JPEG. I can't modify the vectors or remove the transparency grid. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Doug!

Thanks for the reply and help. I can only see the image layer and three layers labeled as Screen Protector 1, 2, and 3, along with the bg layer. However, the ones labeled Screen Protector seem to be empty—there are no vectors or additional layers.

That's an image and nothing else in it.

You could complain about it here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/stock/ct-p/ct-stock?page=1&sort=latest_replies&filter=all&lang=all&tabid=discussions

Hi Scarletioshub!

Thanks for the reply. I see... But it shows as a .ai file in the files?
I attached the download and opening steps here. Where do I go wrong?

Hi Alluring!
Could you hide the top image, add some color on the BG layer, and then say what happens? I suspect the Image layer contains a preview, all elements are placed on the other layers.

Hi Anna!
Thanks for the reply. I see what you mean.

I tried it, but it still won’t show. Is there anything else I can try?

Are there any objects on layers other than the image layer?
