Width Tool does not add points?

What's up with the Width Tool for strokes?
It does not add points even if the stroke is set to basic?

Am I missing something?

I'm dumb. It's not clicking but dragging the desired width... The Plus-Icon is a little confusing tho.

You can also double click and then enter the width numerically.
