I have a sketch I created on GIMP and uploaded it to illustrator with the intent of altering the width of my strokes but can't seem to get it to work. I did image trace to create a path but still won't allow me to use the width tool.. any help?

thanks

Image Trace doesn't create useful stroked paths. So if the result looks pretty good, then you probably don't have a strokes path, but a shape.

In any case:after using image trace in order to edit the paths, you have to expand and then ungroup.

Hello @Bric25421673ys4z,

Thanks for reaching out. Would you mind sharing the details of the file format you used to export from GIMP? If it's a raster format such as JPEG/PNG, you will need to first convert it to vector and then be able to use the Width Tool.

Kindly update this thread if you need further assistance. We'd be happy to help.

Thanks,

Anubhav
