Question

window doesn't scale with zoom

Hi everybody,

I'm not really an Illustrator guy, much more Photoshop. In Photoshop, when you zoom in/out the window changes size with the comp. In Illustrator it just hangs out and takes up space.

I'm on a laptop without much screen space. Is there a setting that scales the window with the comp upon zoom in/out? There's just all this empty grey that I have to scale along every comp I'm working on, really bothersome.

You could try View > Fit Artboard in Window, Ctrl (Windows) or Command (macOS) + 0, or try  or View > Fit All in Window, Alt + Ctrl (Windows) or Option + Command (macOS) + 0.

Yeah, artboard isn't the problem is the floating windows. Every file I open I'm having to drag to resize and drag to resize and drag to resize. I can use tabs, but then I can't have two items open at the same time.

You can have two documents open at the same time, visible side-by-side, and not floating by going to Window > Arrange > Tile.
