Windows 10 + Illustrator 10

And now!  A faint echo coming from the universe long ago and far away . . .

I have an Adobe Illustrator 10 disk purchased years ago; Illustrator 10 has done everything needed in the past and will suffice for the future; now I'm at Windows 10, and when running the installation disk, it stops at "To proceed with this installation, call Adobe Customer Service and provide them with proof of ownership of Illustrator 9_0_2." 

Why?  I never had 9_0_2, so it is impossible to provide any information about it.

Any information about how to connect "the two 10s" in this situation?
