Question

Workspace disappearing

This keeps happening and I have no idea how to fix it. All it's accomplishing is making me frustrated and angry.

I'm not sure when it happened, but at some point my files have started to open another illustrator program despite the original icon I had in my task bar. When I go to this other program, none of my toolbars or workspace is there. I have tried resetting it, tried getting the panels back only for them to disappear whenever I close out and re-open my illustrator... but nothing works. Everytime I close this mysterious new program it says, "ERROR UNKNOWN". And then tells me to click here for more info on crap that I have no clue is the problem or not. Illustrator has always worked just fine before, but now its no longer working properly.

Does anyone know how to fix this before I just throw it out the window?

Hello @Prettystarz4ever,

Sorry to hear about this experience. I hope the suggestions shared by Monika helped resolve the problem. If not, kindly try launching Illustrator under a different administrator account (macOS / Windows) and share your observations.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Uninstall, run the Cleaner tool.

Get an antivirus and check your computer.

Then reinstall Illustrator.

Check the file associations in Windows

Since brushes and color libraries and any custom stuff you might have can get lost in this process, copy this to a safe place before uninstalling.
