Workspaces CC2018

Hi

The location for Illustrator CC workspaces is located in applications/Adobe Illustrator CC 2018/Presets/en_GB/Workspaces, but where do the new workspaces go? When you save new workspace it doesn't work and is not located in this folder. Where did it go in CC2018?

    For PC:

    ..\Users\[username]\AppData\Adobe Illustrator [version#here] Settings\en_US\x64\Workspaces\

    Also:

    ..\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator [version#here] 23 Settings\en_US\x64\Modified Workspaces

    I am not sure why there are 2 but I copy both and it works out.

    As of version 22 and 23, there is not a way to export/save or import workspaces except manually copying the file from the old to new folder.  If an upgrade is installed, sometimes you will be able to import workspaces, but that does not help when it is a new computer or clean install.

    Any useful advice on this yet? I'm finding that when I right click and choose replace with After Effects Comp it's saying I need to install After Effects. Totally agree, I shouldn't have to be doing this. All around CC 2018 is proving to be a clunky piece of junk and wish my co-workers hadn't upgraded yet.

    Yes Doug is correct. There have always been workspaces, symbols etc in the application but those all belong to Adobe. Adobe has always stored the user items in the User's Library on a Mac and AppData on the PC. For the PC instead of looking for a Library look for AppData\Roaming\Adobe. Here is a picture of my own system on the Mac looking at the Application folder at Adobe then finding my own Workspaces and Symbols library (mine shows Adobe Illustrator Settings 22 but I still have as far back as Settings 18.... 21 is CC17). These should be automatically copied from the earlier version. Your older version items are still there for copying though, if you don't see them. Hope this answers your question.

    katie: user symbols/swatches/brushes etc. go in the program's Presets folder, not the user folder.

    You can change the default but if you don't they go into the user's folder. Not all IT lets their users have rights into the Applications (Program files). You can see my are still defaulted into my user so each user carries their own Styles. You are correct if you want to share the styles with all users you can put it into the Preset's folder. IT usually likes the user to keep out of shared spaces, since if things go wrong... harder to troubleshoot...in IT it is assumed the 'User' is usually the problem. (And this can be checked by going into another user and trying to recreate the problem) So you are correct.

    assuming you're on mac os it'll be in your Library > Preferences folder.

    I found out that Illustrator can't use the old preferences like photoshop and indesign can, you need to create a new workspace and save it, then it works.

    Illustrator can import your workspaces, but you need to choose

    when installing with cloud. That worked for me on mac Sierra CC 2018 to pull my CC 2015 settings.

    Migrate presets, actions, and settings

    New workspaces get saved here:

    \Users\(YOURNAME)\Library\Preferences\Adobe Illustrator 22 Settings\en_US\Workspaces\2018

    The workspaces folder in your apps folder is just for the default workspaces, not custom ones you create.
