Writing the same text into all selected objects

example; I want to select five hundred square objects and put the letter "A" into each of them in a single operation. Is there a short way to do this?

I found a script that may work for you.

I created a symbol then drew a bunch of rectangles. I selected the rectangles then ran the script. It replaced each rectangle with an instance of the symbol.

Your best bet may be to use the repeat tool. See the attached screen recording. That's assuming they're all the same shapes...
