Wrong Image linked - Compensation

Hi!

 

My colleague created a file containing linked images. When I opened it, there wasn't the following warning: "Could not find the linked file..." that could have alerted me to a problem. Instead, it proceeded to open the file with an older image linked in it.

 

I then proceeded to create a print file, based on the wrong image. The job was subsequently printed, which was rejected.

 

There is now a financial loss to the company due to this.

 

I would like to know if there is any way of compensation from Adobe for this, or in any other situation please.

Honestly I don’t think Adobe can be held responsible for such incidents. The designers are responsible to send files to the printer that are correct. Unfortunately those mistakes can happen. It also happened in my career.

Usually before you send a file to the printer the client has to check the contents and – I always ask for a written consent that everything is as they want it – they should have seen that there is and older image and they could have notified you.

 

It is always difficult getting files from colleagues and finish or continue work on them. 
A good way to make sure all the recent linked files are also given to you with the AI file is to use the “Package” feature.
