XMP FontFile data being overwritten incorrectly

Question

I have Font Files that are shared out via the creative cloud on an enterprise level. These font files are stored in a hidden User Owned Fonts folder on Macs and Windows. While packaging files I am able to pull the Font File name out of the XMP and comb through known font locations to gather the font file.

When I save files on a Mac it writes the XMP correctly, but when I open the same file on a Windows machine, the Font File name information is being rewritten and defaulted to Myriad pro instead of the correct font file despite the file being installed and accessible on the machine.

Does anyone know why this might be happening and how to fix?
