Orphaned Comments - Edge Case Illustrator Bug

I experienced a crash in my original Illustrator file that I had shared with pending comments, and because Illustrator's crash handling is second to none, I picked back up in the [Recovered] file without much thought.

I "Save As"ed the file to delete the appended "[Recovered]" text from the name.  And now it seems I've overwritten the connection to the original file's comments.

It would be cool if in "Manage Share Links" there were some way to either set up  pointers to comment connections for other projects, or merge comments, or something like that.

I had just explained to a client trying to confirm that I saw their notes and writing to ask for an up-to-date PDF of the project that "Your link will always remain up to date as I make edits, and my end will always remain up to date as you add comments" and it's kind of a shame that less than an hour later I have to explain "ok, NOW your link will always remain up to date, dont worry".

Not the end of the world, and I understand how edge-case this issue is, but figured its worth pointing out.

Thanks!

(I saw the guidelines AS I hit post...)

While I think this issue is probably version agnostic, I was using Illustrator 2026 (Beta) 30.2 45 on a Mac Pro 2019 running Sequoia 15.7.2
