Question

Could sombody share what useful Sampler could do vs Painter/Designer?

I am struggling to find anything I would be doing with Sampler.  Pretty much everything is easier elsewhere for my taste?   Today I tried color replace.   Have a photogrammetry piece  I need to extend  to cover bigger  area  and wanted just to swap image elements colors to be not 100% clone . But there is  no advanced AI masking to do it .  Like in Photoshop.   Tried content aware fill.   Also better in Photoshop.    Tried Ai generation  textures -  getting nothing I actually needed , always something  super repeating  or unrelated.

Are there any specific subjects or workflows where Sampler is great ?    I'v never tried embroidery  . Is this the thing ?     Can anyone share an experience of what was easy and good looking straight from Sampler?

I'd also mention that Substance 3D Sampler is great when it comes to turn Images to Material. You can edit the image beforehand with Photoshop if you're used to Photoshop's tools, but you'll need Sampler to create a PBR Material.

No application will do it better than Sampler.

Thank you Cyril for mentionig this .  Problem is I never managed to get a satisfactory result with it  except  with few very plain and obviouse things where old crasy bump did well too.  Whenever its something nature related with random coloring   its sort of less great.    I see it works nicely for many kinds of  man maid tiles, bricks patterns etc if they have regular coloring .    Would be nice to have some examples page  somewhere to figure out better what subjects and what kind of photos it  prefers and recognizes well.    Like color/normal map pairs.    it would give us an idea how to shoot   and what are the chances  any specific subject would be understood right.

Thank you for your precious feedback!

For a good shooting, we usually advise to make sure the picture doesn't have strong shadows/highlights. A cloudy day is the perfect weather for a shooting. Make also sure the camera has a steady angle, and try to remove contrasting details that will make the tiling too obvious. It's cleaner to remove it physically than in Sampler.

For the color issue you mentioned, it's true that our equalizer doesn't handle well pictures with many different colors. To be honest, I was discussing this very topic last week with colleagues and we're working on solutions.

In the meantime, I'd gladly take a look at your Dataset and make some tests on my own.

Keep me posted.
