Fishnet/Lace/Crochet for close-up/HR compatibility

Hello,

Even with following tutorials, I'm still struggling to solve my problem :

When changing scale in Painter, the quality drops. At first, I thought it was the resolution but it seems that when scaling, I have a height/normal problem. I start to think it's not just a resolution problem but something else, related to the method use to create the lace/crochet/fishnet. Any tip/advice?

The "sampling"/"waving" method looks nice but for scaling, should I rather start with a pattern that doesn't need the waving with height mixing (in other words, to have the "base" and the pattern already mixed)?
