Question

Has anybody ever gotten 3D Sampler to work?

I have tied countless times with IDEAL imagery, it never EVER want to do a 360 capture it always wants to do half a model. (the front but not the back) ..  I see here that someone had success:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/substance-3d-sampler-bugs/cant-align-images-error/idc-p/14478794#M387

But it is impossible to know what he did because all he says is:

"i used substance 3d sampler for photogrammetry. I provided 64 photos.32 images were not aligned properly.  But the failed images are successful when taken separately."

Can anyone figure what he might possibly mean by 'when taken seperately"?    I see in his videos that he got a 360 degree 3d model!  but he does not show what he did differently, (of course...)

Taken seperately???  What could that mean?  THANK YOU!

Hello @Woody5ECC,

Thanks for your message.

For the mentioned message, I'm not sure what the user meant, but as a 3D artist prior to be a Substance team member, I agree the 3D capture can be tedious, and I failed a bunch of time before having a decent result.

The key is to make sure to have a good amount of pictures from all angles (Sampler can't build what it can't see), and make sure your mesh has no reflections, but an even lighting.

You probably already have seen those, but I always strongly advise to check our advanced tutorials on the topic. They honestly contain everything you'll need to know for the best possible result.

If the problem persists, feel free to share images from your dataset so I can check there's nothing preventing a good 3D reconstruction.
