How to use the same generator pattern for different channels?

How to use the same generator not only for color, but also for roughness and heights for example? If I turn on roughness it affects the entire layer, not just the generator pattern.

It would be much better if the user had the option of selecting multiple channels at once in the way of a check box system. Even though it is a step in the right direction, the current solution is very clunky. Can we please look at streamlining this?
