Just a few questions :)

Is there a way of erasing some parts of a 3D model once its been generated.

No material options (material settings option not ticked/available) when trying to export to Painter. Is it because I dont have another program installed.

Is there a way of showing my 3D models on another computer or my mobile phone to show people what I have made.

Hi @LeesVisuals,

Thanks for the question!

You can't edit the topology inside Substance 3D Sampler, but nothing prevents you to send the model to Blender, or any 3D modeling software to delete the undesired parts.

Considering the Material section of the export not available, I've saw your previous thread, and I just want to check certain conditions to be sure I'm giving you the proper answer.

You'll find many 3D viewers for smartphone on the AppStore or Google play store. From there you'll only have to send the 3D asset to your phone in order to display it within the app. Alternatively, you can use Substance 3D Stager to publish your scene on the web and display it from your Smartphone (I've never tried to open the link from my phone, but I'm pretty sure this should work). I know Marmoset Toolbag 4 also have a similar feature.

Hi Cyril, thank you for your reply. Apologies, this is all completely new to me so it may be something simple.

I also have designer and painter, so would I be able to delete sections in those programs.

I watched a video on YouTube from the Substance 3D Sampler channel, and the person had material settings option available using an USD file format, but that was 9 months ago, so it may have changed.

I can't find that many how to videos compared to something like Photoshop (which again I'm new to).

Unfortunately, Painter and Designer are also texture dedicated softwares, so you can't edit the Geometry of the mesh. However, Blender is a free 3D modeling application, and if you're willing to learn 3D, I'm pretty sure it will be useful to learn a few tricks on the app.

Maybe it was possible to edit the material section months ago, I'm not sure to be honest. There are a lot of changes with the .USD format considering it is a pretty new feature for Sampler.

Feel free to ask questions here! Photoshop has indeed a lot of useful tutorials, but we try to be has connected to the artists as we can be.
