Novice here looking for advice on photogrammetry

Hi I hope someone can help me... I am brand new to photogrammetry and have experimented using Adobe Substance to create a 3d scan of a vase with a pretty pleasing result. I know I have a lot to learn but just wondering right now if it is possible to create 3d assets purely in Adobe ready to post/sell on sketchfab for example? In other words does Adobe have all the necessary software to produce a model ready to post with all necessary file types/texture maps ready for game or interior designer/architecture use? Also, what is the opinion of minimum turnaround time for producing one low to medium poly count model from photography through to mark up and posting? Just wondering if this is all worth it as a side hustle or to give up now!

Hello Lucy,

Thank you for the question.

Short answer : Yes, Adobe has all the tools.

Now, to get a little bit more into details, it's quite different if you're doing a model for video game or for architecture or design. As instance, the scanned 3D model should have a pretty dense topology which will probably not be suited for a video game where most assets are retopologized by hand (for optimization purposes).

Same thing goes for UVs, which are automatically generated by Sampler, but automatic UV unwrapping are never as good as manual unwrapping.

That being said, there are a lot of fields where all these topics don't really matter, and the visual quality of the mesh is the only goal. Hopefully, a well 3D scanned object is usually pretty impressive.

Finally, If you're starting an extensive project with the 3D capture feature of Sampler, I strongly advise you to follow our advanced tutorials on the subject.

Previously I have updated some of my models that are created by Adobe Dimension, Adobe Photoshop into Sketchfab without any problem. The requirements are not so strict, so it is possible.
