Translucent materials

Is it possible to create translucent materials in Sampler? I have set the translucency slider to 1 with path tracing enabled but nothing happens?

ok, I realised that I hadn't enabled the translucency channel and now I'm getting results - how can I adjust the IOR? the slider in the shader settings don't seem to do anything

Here is my screenshot after applying standard material and activating hidden channels Emission, translucency ets.  My property panel is active.
