Question

Where is texture/prompt to material feature?

I recall  text to material  Ai generation by prompt.   It worked slightly better than  just image to material  Ai which is still pretty useless.    But I can’t find it now.    Have it been retired or something?  Or became separately paid ?

Not that I used it much before.  Too small 1x1m textures , too repetitive, not especially good in general  but   would like to give it another try just to see if any progress been made.

Oh , I now see in release notes  the feature have been  killed entirely .   Wonder why?  It definitely worked a bit better than image to Material . My real complain  was it did small 1x1m  insanely repetitive things  that was hard to even mix together naturally .

Is it back to beta?  How can I access Sampler beta?  Beta apps  tab doesn’t show it .

Yes, it was removed. The public beta isn't available now in CC App beta section. The right solution for now is to use Generate Pattern in Illustrator, export it as image and create any material in Sampler from image. Did you try that workflow?

I never managed to get anything good from image to material . It works same as old Crazy bump  basically.    Surprisingly text to material  worked a bit better while did the same image to material trick . Not sure why . Never worked right on my own images or any specific  thing I need to do a normal /height map for.

As of text to material I was able to do like 20  variations and then copy some good parts from them.  Enough to do a single texture  covering 7-8 meters.   Was sometimes useful when I couldn’t find right thing in libraries .   So it’s a pity it’s gone.

The Text-to-Material AI generation by prompt is part of Adobe Substance 3D Sampler version 6.

    🔑 Here’s what’s new in v6 regarding this feature:

    • Firefly integration: Sampler now has Adobe Firefly built in, so you can type a natural language description and instantly generate a procedural PBR material.

    • Dedicated entry point: In the Create panel, you’ll see a new option called Generate (Beta) or Text-to-Material. That’s where you enter your prompt.

    • Full PBR set: The AI doesn’t just give you a flat texture — it outputs base color, normal, height, roughness, metallic, and other channels, ready for use in Painter, Stager, or game engines.

    • Editable graph: The generated material is procedural, meaning you can tweak sliders (scale, roughness, color variation, etc.) without losing quality.

    • Workflow boost: It’s designed to save time when prototyping or exploring ideas, while still giving you the flexibility to refine the material manually.

if you’re on Sampler v6, you should see this feature available. It’s still marked as Beta in some builds, but it’s officially part of the v6 release.

Could you explain please where can I find this “create” panel . I am trying to write “text to material” or “Ai” to search line  on both left and right sides and got only “image to material”  , and nothing like “text to material”

I recall I found this text to material prompt field on the left side panel  before . Now can’t find it there.  I see “quick action” button but its search line  returns nothing on text to material either.

    “About Sampler” shows V6.0.0 indeed
