Extending an image using crop

I have been using Beta to expand images but suddenly crop will not allow me to extend an image beyond its borders . This was working yesterday. 

Solution ?

    I found a solution - you have to click inside the image and expand outwards whereas before you could click on the edge and expand - a simple change in behaviour but very annoying
