Generative AI is replacing object and not adding to it?

Hi, I'm just trying to add some red splashes of blood to some objects, by writing 'red ink' or 'red paint' but gererative AI is replacing the objects and not adding to the current picture? How can I get it to add just to the picture and not change the object?

    @SiHutch Generative features will always reinterpret existing images to create a new rendition. If possible use the results to composite back into your original using layers and masks.
