I resized an object using generative expand. It disappears when I crop it

I can't seem to stop generative expand, even when I duplicate the I mage, rasterize it, make it a smart object. All I want to do is take this larger image and crop and save it. HOW?

    Hi @gyro22222 in the top menu bar, make sure you have selected background (default) or Content-Aware fill or whatever you wish to use.

    that didn't seem to work. Once the photo was larger, and I went to crop it, it it keeps doing generative things. how do I save it as a regular image that I can crop
