I save file to external hard drive - doesn't save on the hard drive -- can open from recent files

Not sure where it's saving/exporting the image I'm trying to save.  It is not saved to the cloud.  Triple checked that I am saving to external hard drive.  I even tried saving to different folders/locations on the harddrive and the image does not show in any of those folders on the harddrive.  However -- I can open the image back up from the recent files in photoshop (beta)

1. Version of app: 24.6.0

2. Platform and OS version: macOS Ventura 13.4 (22F66)

3. Basic step to reproduce the problem: save as -> Format: TIFF -> Profile: Linear P3 -> 32 bit -> Image compression -> none -> Pixel order -> interleaved -> Byte order (IBM PC)

4. Expected result: file saves on external harddrive; actual result: file is unable to be located on external harddrive but I am still able to open it back up from the recent files on photoshop home screen - it's not in the cloud either

Photoshop does not support saving directly to a removeable hard drive (or network drive). Instead, save to your hard drive and copy it over.

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/networks-removable-media-photoshop.html

"Technical Support strongly recommends working in Photoshop directly on the local hard disk. To prevent data loss, save files to your hard disk first. Then transfer them to the network or removable drive in the Finder or in Windows Explorer. To retrieve files, copy them in the Finder or in Windows Explorer from the network or removable drive to your hard disk. You can then open the files in Photoshop. This workflow avoids problems that occur when network system setups or removable media device drivers are incompatible with the operating system or Photoshop."
