Issue with Photoshop AI Image Generation – "Something Went Wrong" Error

Hello Adobe Community,

I hope you're doing well.

I'm currently facing an issue while using the AI image generation feature (Generative Fill) in Adobe Photoshop. Whenever I try to use it, I get the following message:

"Something went wrong, please try again."

I've already tried the following troubleshooting steps:

Restarting Photoshop - Updating to the latest version -
Checking my internet connection - Logging out and back into my Adobe account

Unfortunately, none of these worked.

I'm using the lateest version of adobe because I have an account, and I tried the bita version and I faced the same issue

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a solution or workaround?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

Best regards,
Fadi

I’ve encountered this issue as well. The “Something Went Wrong” error in Photoshop’s AI image generation often appears due to temporary API overload or corrupted local cache data. You can try the following fixes:

  1. Clear Photoshop’s temp cache (Preferences → Performance → Scratch Disks).

  2. Sign out and back in to your Adobe account it refreshes AI service tokens.

  3. Reduce image dimensions or try a simpler prompt; large files can sometimes timeout.

  4. If using a VPN or firewall, disable it temporarily, as it may block Adobe’s AI endpoints.

Adobe’s backend for generative AI is cloud-dependent, so even minor connection interruptions can cause this error. Hopefully, they’ll stabilize it soon.

Thank you for these suggestions. Unfortunately, I've tried all of them and the issue has not been resolved. The "Something Went Wrong" error persists when I try to generate an image.

To make matters worse, the problem has now escalated beyond just generation. The "Generative Remove" feature (the remove tool) has also stopped working and now returns a new, different error:

"Couldn't complete your request, because of a program error."

So now, both core AI functions—generation and removal—are completely non-functional. It seems the initial issue has become more severe on my end. I'm hoping Adobe is aware of these widespread problems and is working on a stable backend solution soon.

Hi @Fadi Alhinnawi

1. Try resetting Prefs for the Beta:
/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/ Photoshop Beta Settings (Mac Ventura)
/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/Adobe\ Photoshop\ \(Beta\)\ Settings (Mac)

C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (Beta)\Adobe Photoshop (Beta) Settings

Launch BETA Photoshop While Pressing The Keyboard Shortcut
With Photoshop closed, press and hold Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Win) / Shift+Command+Option (Mac) on your keyboard and then Launch Photoshop the way you normally would.

2. It may help if we could see your Photoshop beta System Info. Launch Photoshop beta, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Thanks,

Subject: Follow-Up Regarding Persistent Error in Adobe Software

Dear Adobe Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well.

Thank you for your previous assistance and recommendations. I have carefully followed the steps you suggested; however, the issue remains unresolved, and the same error message continues to appear: "Something went wrong, please try again."

I would like to highlight an important observation: Three days after your last communication, the software functioned properly for a full day. During this time, I tested two different versions, and both worked successfully. Unfortunately, after this brief period of functionality, the same error recurred.

As mentioned in my previous correspondence, I have diligently implemented all recommended troubleshooting steps without success. The issue has persisted for an extended period, significantly impacting my workflow. I have also been informed that recent updates may address this problem, but despite keeping the software fully updated, the error continues to occur.

I would like to emphasize a critical point: The intermittent functionality (temporary recovery followed by failure) suggests that the issue is likely not related to my local device or a routine software error. As a subscribed user who regularly updates the software, I believe this matter requires further investigation from your end.

I kindly request your assistance in resolving this issue at the earliest opportunity, as I have pressing projects that depend on the stable operation of your software.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,
Fadi
