Lost comment of the stakeholder after auto-save

Shared file with stakeholder

After receiving comments from the shareholder I edited the comp. After a while it auto-saved it. However, the stakeholder is unable to see the update even after refreshing. On my side, I lost his comments and had to send him another invite to collaborate.

Yeah, it looks like somewhere along the line there were different edits that needed to be saved, and to not lose work or one of the edits becoming the new document "truth" there was a second version created to avoid that conflict.

Sorry for the de-coupling of the comments and share with the new document version.

Glad you've got it working now.

Pete

Hey Pete,
It didn't happen again, though just for your information, here was my process when it did happen:

I clicked on the Share button and invited the shareholder using their email. After the initial comment I edited the document, replied to the stakeholder from the Comments panel. I kept the document open and it auto-saved after a while. I decided to do some more collaboration with the stakeholder when I noticed the Comments section was blank. I closed and opened the auto-saved version of the document again through Recent and reinvited the stakeholder. I can now see our communication through the Comments panel even if I close and open the document. There are two documents for this one comp now, last one being the auto-saved.

Hope this helps.

Hi @HJaved ,

Sorry for the lost comments!

My first sense is that there may have been a document versioning conflict somewhere along the way and that's what caused the issue.

How did you send the invitation to the Stakeholder? Did you allow them to edit? Perhaps they were editing while you made edits, and a new version was created to avoid a version conflict.

Are there multiple versions of this file in your My Files I wonder?

This would also explain the need to invite to collaborate again.

Let me know what you find out!

Regards,

Pete
