Question

Parametric filters not changing anything

Hi, I'm using PS Beta 26.6, and when I try using the "Parametric Filter" the only things that happens is that it:

-Duplicates the layer
-Converts to smart object.

The parametric properties stays "blank" with the text: "Select a layer that contains a Parametric filter....".

I've tried to reinstall the Beta, and I've tried resetting the preferances.

What am I doing wrong?

I had the same issue but now it's fixed after updating Photoshop beta and installing latest camera raw from the below link. (I don't know camera raw is related to this issue tho)

I do just fix mine right now of course after trying everything they told , update your camera's raw or graphics driver that's all .

Similar issue on version 26.8. I click the parametric filter (in this case embroidery) but it creates a blank layer rather than duplicating the layer with the filter applied. I've tried tragging the filter to the original layer and that doesn't work either.

I do have (almost) the same problem: I can apply the effect ONCE but not change anything and not change anything afterwards. the parametric effect window is then empty saying I should pic a layer that has a filter applied.

Can you tell us the specific filter, and the size of the layer you are applying it to in pixels.  This is a 1620 x 1200 canvas.

Do you see the Parametric Properties panel.  This is with Embroidery, and you can see by the scroll bar that there are lot more sliders hidden.  Are these working for you?

Hey, @torkelsorhus. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll need more information to help you figure this out. Please share a video of the issue and the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here.

Does it behave as mentioned after a specific set of steps? What troubleshooting steps have you tried already?

I've tried a few Parametric filters, and they worked as expected. Do you see the unexpected behavior with specific filters?

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!

Hi @Sameer K ! I'm not the original poster, but I am having the same issue. I have taken a video of me attempting to apply the filter and a copy of the system info for review.

It could absolutely be user error, but for troubleshooting, I have converted the workspace to 8 bit as another forum as suggested, updated by PS Beta to the most recent update, and updated my camera raw as suggested by another poster in the forum.

Thank you for looking into this!

Hi , I've moved your post from the Photoshop forum to the Photoshop Beta forum where you are more likely to get help with your issue.
