Photoshop 2023 - front of image being removed when background is deleted

Hi, I am new to Photoshop 2023 today. I am used to CS6. 

I have been trying to remove the background on several images, but this process is deleting part of the right side of the image automatically.

Does anyone know how to stop this happening ? There are 2 screenshots attached showing the cut off front section.
