Photoshop Beta — Full Screen Mode hides all panels & Tab key does not bring them back [Windows 10]

There appears to be a bug in Photoshop Beta on a Windows 10 PC where Full Screen Mode (F key) sporadically hides all panels/palettes and the Tab key won't bring them back.

CShubert, I'll give this a try sometime soon and let you know what I discover.  Been too busy to get to it recently.

@Mark S. Johnson have you updated to the latest Ps beta, and does this issue persist?

Adobe Photoshop Version: 26.7.0 20250427.m.3057 e97cdb2 arm64

Thanks,

10 minutes after resetting preferences, the error is back.

By @Mark S. Johnson

Can you remember what steps you took between resetting Preferences and and the issue returning?

When you reset Preferences, did you use @CShubert 's advice and do so manually as per his link?

Do you have custom workspace(s) and/or custom shortcuts?

Did you reset the workspace?

Did you have multiple image documents open, and if yes, how were they arranged? (i.e. consolidated to tabs, or floating windows.)

Did you open or create new documents after resetting Preferences, and if so, how are they displayed? (consolidated to tabs, or floating windows.)

When you lose the panels, do they return if you reset the workspace?

Do you use multiple monitors?

Do you have Windows scaling set to something other than 100% (this can push panels off the screen).

See if any of the above shakes loose a clue.

Thanks for your responses, Trevor.Dennis and CShubert.  Resetting the Photoshop Beta preferences solved the problem.

Hi @Mark S. Johnson  when you press the F key, there are three states and should cycle through them all.  If not, could be a corrupt preference.

Try resetting Prefs for the Beta:
/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/ Photoshop Beta Settings (Mac Ventura)
/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/Adobe\ Photoshop\ \(Beta\)\ Settings (Mac)

C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (Beta)\Adobe Photoshop (Beta) Settings

Launch BETA Photoshop While Pressing The Keyboard Shortcut
With Photoshop closed, press and hold Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Win) / Shift+Command+Option (Mac) on your keyboard and then Launch Photoshop the way you normally would.

I don't think it can be a shortcut issue because 'F' is hard wired and can't be applied to other functions.

If it was another app stealing focus, then the F key would either do nothing at all, or it would switch focus to the other app.  You could test this by trying a different shortcut when the panels become turned off.

I 'think' — but I am less sure — that the same applies to the Tab key.  If you try to use it as a shortcut focus moves to the next field.

I am using Windows 11 so can't test, but I'll edit your Subject line to show this is Windows 10.

There have been a lot of posts about icons becoming invisible in the last year or so, and I have experienced the same thing with my Adjustment Layer panel having no icons.  More recently, I have had times when I was unable to select an Adjustment layer by clicking its icon, but was able to select the layer using that panel's 'three bar' menu. My gut says that your issue is going to be related to those anomalies.  Resetting Preferences, or sometimes just restarting Photoshop fixed those issues, although I did have a period of a week or so when I was completely unable to see the Adjustment Layer icons.  This was always with the beta version.

So, first off, are you using the most recent version?  (26.6.0 m.3042)

Try resetting Preferences.  In the last post I answered I said there were few downsides to using the beta version, but if I am honest, I do have to reset Preferences a lot more often than I ever did with the Release version.

Thanks, Dave.  Where is that forum located?  I thought I was in the Photoshop Beta forum already.

Hi , I've moved your post from the Photoshop forum to the Photoshop Beta forum where you are more likely to get help with your issue.

The problem seems to pop up with I zoom using Control-Spacebar-click.
