Photoshop Beta Recent Files

What happened to the Recent Files window in Photoshop Beta?
Normally, hovering the mouse cursor over a file name would display the file path, allowing you to easily locate it in its directory on your PC.

But since the last update, it simply shows "On this computer." It doesn't give you any option to see its physical location.

I already know it's on my computer.

But I want to know which directory.

Is there any way to recover that context menu where hovering over a file would show its physical location? Is there any way to reactivate it? Now I can no longer find out which physical folder the file is in. The option of opening the file and saving it later doesn't work for me, because sometimes the link path is broken (when the file is moved from a folder outside of Photoshop), and then it's no longer possible to recover it because the file disappears from the list immediately. Photoshop deletes the file immediately without giving you any other option. It also doesn't give you the option to accept or cancel the deletion. Photoshop always deletes it... and you're left without the file and without the original path. I want to know why they removed it, and I want to ask Adobe engineers to restore the ability to refuse to delete that file from recent files. I also want them to restore the ability to recover the original directory path so I can see where the file is, or where it was, or what its original name was, so I can search for it externally. I also want them to add two features:
1. The ability to view the directory where the file is located.
2. The ability to individually delete each file from the recent files list, to facilitate the management of files whose editing is already finished.

Original Text:

    Hi KS,

The Photoshop Team reads the threads in this forum, but they do not always reply.

What you are describing is how the “Recent Files” feature was designed to work, so it appears to be working correctly. The recents list is not the file itself. It’s a pointer to the file and to its location. When you move, rename, or delete a file, then the pointer can no longer find it.

This is also true in other applications, including Microsoft.

You might consider not moving and renaming files if you want to rely on the pointers to find your files.

If you are on macOS, you can Cmd+Click the title bar to see and navigate to the path. I don’t know if Windows has a similar feature.

In addition macOS has a recents folder at the operating system level, which is the default folder in Finder:

    https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/open-recently-used-items-on-mac-mchlp2724/mac

To open the Recents folder in Windows, I found this, but can’t verify:

Press Windows key + R to open Run, or go to Start and search for Run. In Run dialog box, type shell:recent and hit Enter to open a folder with your recent items.

Also, macOS has Sidebar, where you can put files and folders for easy access:

    https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/customize-the-finder-sidebar-on-mac-mchl83c9e8b8/mac

Windows version is the Quick Access toolbar where you can put folders.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/getting-started-with-quick-access-eb533c0a-7ee9-40d4-8d29-0a88cc9e0231

macOS lets you use multiple parameters when doing a search, including part of the name of the file and what type of file it is and when it was created or opened. I don’t know if Windows allows multiple parameters.

Because I started using computers long before Recents were invented, I have never relied on them and instead have created a structured file system so I can find files quickly.

I hope at least one idea that I gave you will be useful.

    Okay.

I'm still waiting for a response from Adobe.

I don't understand why they've removed the directory information for the file. This makes my work much more difficult, because if the file has been renamed outside of Photoshop, when I click on "Recent Files," it disappears from the recent files list, and there's no way to know where it was.

I think this should also be fixed. Before removing the file from the recent files list, Photoshop should first ask if I want to delete it or search for the original directory to recover the file.
    ---------------------------------
