Photoshop Beta v27.7 keeps crashing my computer (not just the app) during mask edits. I installed the previous version and issue goes away. After reinstalling 27.7 back the same issue occurs again. 4x and counting. This happens when I open the mask window to edit a selection for masking <ctrl><alt><r> in windows desktop (11), The mask edit window opens but as soon as I start trying to edit, my computer crashes. I’ve currently reverted back to version (v27.6). It is working fine so far as of today.

Thanks for the update @EyeCreate2024 , I think this is your solution for now:

Settings → Technology Previews → uncheck "Enable Modern User Interface" → restart Ps

Let me know if you had this setting ON, if so, unchecking to turn OFF should fix this issue for you.

    Thanks,

I re-installed the 2nd GPU and assigned Photoshop to the 1st GPU. The same problem re-occurred. The settings were “ON” for “Enable Modern User Interface”. So, I switched it off. I was able to edit a mask layer after that with no problem. We’ll see if it keeps. Thanks.

I think I resolved the issue. It was the GPU. I had two installed on my computer. I removed one of the GPUs. This seemed to resolve the issue so far.

Hi @EyeCreate2024  you mention that the issue was the GPU, please share the two GPUs you had and which one you removed as well as driver version numbers… it could be helpful to the team.

You can also use this tool to confirm any GPU issue in the future:

    These are the two GPUs:

    Currently Installed: MSi GEFORCE RTX 3060, Ventus 2x, 12GB GDDR6 192-bit

Removed: GIGABYTE GEFORCE RTX 3060, Windforce OC 12G GDDR6 192-bit

I purchased the additional GPU specifically to use for local LLMs that I am running. I really need that extra GPU. I’m going to reinstall the Gigabyte GPU but will designate it for the LLMs and will specifically designate the MSI GPU for all Adobe desktop apps. I’m just going to have to manage my GPUs better.

Also, I just updated to v27.8 and the same exact thing happened. It was immediate when going into mask edit mode. I’ve reverted back to 27.6 for now.
