Photoshop crashing and freezing after using remove tool

I'm having the same issue. Apple Studio M2 Max.  Crashes about every 7th or 8th time using the remove tool.  This is a new issue, since Photoshop 26.1

When lightroom crashes, I get a request for crash report upon restarting.  This is not happening when photoshop crashes.

@KBowbrand so, are you back up without any crashes? Want to make sure you are good to go!

I went ahead did the driver update for Lenovo and that's what I get for choosing the aesthetic option when it comes to an external harddrive I suppose 😅 That's a different kind of rant for another day tho lol

That is correct, PS Beta seems to crash everytime I use the remove tool several times in a row. I know it's the remove tool because 1. That's why I started using beta lol and 2. The only other action I did was copy (ctrl+j) a  layer. However, I just saw there's an update for beta today so maybe that will help! If it doesn't I'll make sure to report it. 🙂

Oh! Btw I use an external harddrive and I have to change the scratch disk settings everytime I launch PS beta so that it will scratch to the external hardrive. This is not an issue in regular PS. It's like PS beta resets everytime I launch... which I don't know why it says only 2 launches, it was way more than that lol

Hi @KBowbrand thanks for the update, yes, everytime it does please report.  The volume also triggers response... did you use the same email on the report process as what you have here on the forum?  If so, I can go find the crash and make sure it is elevated to the developers.

We want to know about these type of issues so we can get them fixed... so huge thanks for doing this.

So, to make sure we understand.... Ps beta crashes when using Remove Tool, right?

Could you also share your sysinfo?  That is a great bit of info to pass along... see above as to how to get it and paste here, all of it, in your response.

Thank you for your response! Yes, I did report the crash and was prompted to post here. I really only wanted to report the crash lol it's the beta version so I expect there to be bugs here and there. I don't have a problem with regular PS, I really like the new remove tool in beta tho. 

It's been happening consistently and the tool I used the most was the remove tool before each crash. Should I report every crash or would that be unproductive?

Hi @KBowbrand curious if you have submitted a crash report when this issue happens, is the crash repeatable to only happened once?

A couple things to try:

Try resetting Prefs for the Beta:

Launch BETA Photoshop While Pressing The Keyboard Shortcut
With Photoshop closed, press and hold Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Win) / Shift+Command+Option (Mac) on your keyboard and then Launch Photoshop the way you normally would.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.
