(Photoshop Web) Cropping 135MB file doesn't work

I have attempted to crop three different large PSD files. However, I hit the same error:

Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop.

After talking with Adobe support, it seems the issue is that these files are too large. I'm trying to crop them as there is no way to change the canvas size, and this seems like an alternative way of doing it.
