Problem opening Photoshop from within Lightroom Classic on desktop in Windows 11

When I try to open Photoshop from within Lightroom Classic 13.4, two problems emerge:

Firstly a grid appears over the photo which I cannot get rid of.

Secondly, the toolbar on the LHS of the screen does not appear. Photoshop defaults to Beta 25.9.1.

Kindly advise on a solution.
