Prompt box disappears

when I click the "edit in quick mask mode" the prompt box disappear. How to fix this issue? Thanks

Do you mean the Contextual Task Bar?

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible?
