Can one go back to previous editions of beta?  This new one seems worse than previously (see my two posts).  Thanks.

Try resetting your preferences in the new beta: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#reset-preferences

It worked for me. As for reverting to a previous version, yes you can, but it blocks you from generative features asking you to upgrade.
