Relight – Changing any light setting resets Intensity and Diffusion to 0%

Environment

  • Photoshop Beta [exact version from Help > System Info], updated on October 7, 2026
  • macOS [version], Apple Silicon Mac
  • System language: French (French number format, comma as decimal separator)

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open an image and select an unlocked pixel layer.
  2. Go to Layer > New Relight Layer.
  3. Select the light and set Intensity to any value (e.g. 60%).
  4. Change any other setting of the same light: Diffusion, or the position (left/right, up/down, front/back).

Expected result
Each setting keeps its value, so Intensity and Diffusion can be adjusted together.

Actual result
As soon as any setting is changed, Intensity and Diffusion jump back to 0%:

  • Adjusting Intensity resets Diffusion to 0%.
  • Adjusting Diffusion resets Intensity to 0%.
  • Moving the light in any direction resets both to 0%.

This makes it impossible to get a correct preview before clicking Done. Since each render costs 30 credits, I can't validate a result I can't preview.

see it in video

What I already tried

  • Typing values in the number fields instead of dragging the sliders: same issue.
  • Updating to the latest Beta build: same issue.
  • [If tested] Switching macOS number format to "1,234.56": [result]

Possible cause
Intensity and Diffusion are the only percentage values that reset. Could this be related to the French decimal separator (comma instead of dot) when the light settings are read back?

Beta – Percentage sliders reset to 0 with French region settings (Relight, Shadows/Highlights…)

    Environment

    • Photoshop Beta [exact version from Help > System Info], updated on October 7, 2026
    • macOS [version], Apple Silicon Mac
    • macOS Region: France

    Issue
In the Beta, every slider expressed in percent (%) resets to 0 as soon as another setting is changed.

    • In Relight: adjusting Intensity resets Diffusion to 0%, adjusting Diffusion resets Intensity to 0%, and moving the light in any direction resets both.
    • The same happens with other percentage sliders, such as in Shadows/Highlights.
    • Sliders using other units (pixels, degrees, unitless) work normally.
    • The release version of Photoshop works correctly on the same Mac.

In Relight, this makes it impossible to get a reliable preview before clicking Done, and each render costs 30 credits.

    Cause (confirmed)
It is locale-related. In French, percentages are written with a space before the sign ("60 %" instead of "60%"). The Beta seems to fail to parse these values and resets them to 0.

    Workaround
Switching macOS Region (System Settings > General > Language & Region) from France to United States fixes the issue immediately.

    What did not help

    • Typing values in the number fields instead of dragging the sliders
    • Using only the Properties panel, or only the Contextual Task Bar
    • Updating to the latest Beta build, relaunching, recreating the Relight layer
    • Changing only the macOS number format (decimal separator) to "1,234.56"
    • Disabling "Use Graphics Processor" (Relight then becomes unavailable)
