When a user selects a region that contains transparency, the remove tool is automatically removing the original area as well as automatically extending its effect along all transparency boundaries, regardless of the original user selected area. the entire edge of transparency far beyond the initial user selection.

This behavior occurs:

  • In both Photoshop Beta and current production release
  • Consistently across recent versions
  • With both pixel-based transparency and layer masks
  • Regardless of selection size or location

The attached screen recording demonstrates how the Remove Tool affects the entire transparency edge, extending well beyond the user-defined selection area.
