Tell us more!

The team developing the Substance 3D plugin for Photoshop is interested in hearing more about:

  • Who is using the plugin and
  • What industries this plugin is useful for

If you're using this plugin, please tell us how you use the Substance 3D plugin and something about the industry you work in.

If you haven't used it and would like to learn more, see Substance 3D materials for Photoshop.

Thank you!

The Photoshop team

I work in the Home Decor industry for a medium-sized company that sources furniture, wall decor, accessories, etc.
We sell B2B and through e-commerce; which means that our product photography needs to be top-shelf to come out above the rest online.

We are moving the majority of our product photography to be rendered in 3D, but with the suite of "Photo Studio" style rendering tools my company is using, results often come out too simple or flat for a lack of model/texture detail.

After a few hours of using the Substance Materials Plugin, I can see myself using it to texture renders that contain models with bland materials once the plugin gets to a production level. I'd like to see more intuitive transform/masking controls, and a material sync feature similar to the way fonts sync with Adobe Fonts.

Feedback:

  • Having a 2D preview of the current customized texture in the Material Panel would be helpful. (found myself clicking between tabs a lot after changing a material layer to a smart object while transforming.)
  • Give the option to set a 'Default Resolution' for new material layers. (Currently, it retains the resolution your last layer was, and if I liked the way my previous layer looked on "Ultra", I have to render the next layer in "Ultra" too even If I'm just browsing materials.)
