Trying to Apply a Stroke from Mixer Brush Tool on a Path

Hello! Very advanced in Ps but don't use pen tool too often but want to change that. I am trying to add a gradient brush stroke (that i made in the mixer brush - see screenshot) to a line i made with pen tool. When I go right click>stroke path and for tool select Mixer Brush tool, it creates a stroke but im not sure where it is taking the data from (see screenshot). Also providing screenshot of my mixer brush tool settings if that's helpful. Running Sonoma 14.0 and Ps (Beta) 26.3.0. Any advice appreciated! TY!

Whatever tool you stroke a workpath with has to be set up prior to applying it, so it's nearly always a good idea to manually drag the tool across the canvas with zoom set to 100% and keep undoing it, adjust settings and try again. When you get the look you are after, stroke the path.

You will still be subject to any selections, and possibly hidden by the contents of layers higher up the stack, and when using the mixer brush, dependant on layers lower down the stack if you have Sample all layers enabled.

Stroking paths is an incredably useful feature. It can make those of us who lack talent with an artist brush apply brush strokes with perfect accuracy. If you enable Simulate Pressure the results are similar to using a graphics tablet. Fade is a useful feature to use when stroking pathts as well. But you need to practice the stroke before applying it. BTW Fade is dependant on brush spacing, but I expect you knew that.
