a link image makes the properties panel extend (to show the path) and it can't be resized

That’s the issue where the link path isn't abbreviated, causing the Properties panel to expand.

You can prevent the panel from expanding by unchecking "Enable Modern User Interface" under Preferences > Technology Previews—which causes the file path to be abbreviated—but I imagine that would be a hassle.

A good reply Susumu. It puts me in mind of the annoying way Generative AI layers have the layer name in the document tab when that layer is selected, and the tab extends the full width of the screen blocking other open document tabs. Layer Cleanup fixes it, or simply click on a different layer or empty space in the Layers panel. It still annoys me though.

Do you mean that the Properties panel expands ss it needs to show all fields for the selected function. Or are you saying that after completing that process, the properties panel remains at the expanded size and won’t let you restore to the default size?

What happens if you use Window > Workspace > Restore (current) workspace?

I use tiny actions that set and reset my workspaces. I tend to drag panels around (often to get screenshots for this forum). These actions set and reset the workspace, and are triggered by Function keys. I just need to tap F5 and everything returns to my custom workspace.
