Why has Photoshop Beta v26.11 (the latest) stopped the ability to "Fill" a layer with a color?

With update V26.11 on my iMac the neural filters, specifically depth blur, was malfunctioning then caused the whole program to lockup and crash. Nightmare update. Tried un and reinstalling, updated operating system to Tahoe, nothing worked. So my son suggested going to older more stable version V26.10 which has been working beautifully.

You said 'then fill it with a color of my choice'.

We are asking how you do that? 

Do you use the paint bucket tool for instance?

It sounds like you usually do this without selecting the color you want to fill with.  i.e. you do not make it the foreground color.

We need to know:

1.  How do you select the color?
2.  How you fill the layer with that color?

Well CShubert, I believe I explained it fairly well in my last reply.  I've already clearly indicated that I am using the latest version of Photoshop Beta (v26.11 20250820 m3189) as to the rest the the jargon you specified it would not have anything whatsoever to do with the procedure in question.  A procedure that has worked for years in the regular version of Photoshop (and still does), and one that has worked in PS Beta untill two (2) days ago.

I believe I have spelled out my procedure clearly enough previously, so see no need to repeat myself.  However, I am uploading a screenshot.  I did a cutout of an object (a car) and created a blank layer beneath it (see Layer 1). With "layer 1" tagged, I simply Shift+F5 and select "Color".  That function no longer works as my selected color is indicated but does not fill the intended layer.

Hi @Stu32314935j7it could you share your steps so we can try to recreate what you are seeing?  Or, record a video showing your steps, anything like these will make sure we do what you doing and in the same order with the same tools so that we can make sure we don't miss anything.

Make sure you are on the latest Ps Beta: Adobe Photoshop Version: 26.11.0 20250820.m.3189 056a70f arm64 (beta, PublicBeta)

The usual???  I've been using Photoshop for a great many years and I have NEVER filled a layer by using 
"Alt Backspace".  My method has always been to create a layer underneath the object layer and then click the layer to be filled and then fill it with a color of my choice.

My method still works in the regular Photoshop, but as stated has stopped working in Beta (v26.11 m3189).

Your method works if you wish to fill the layer with the foreground color.  I don't.  I have a selected color that I use for this purpose when saving tif files.  They standout for me this way.  Using your method requires an additional step to get what I want.  Meaning, if I fill with Black (the standard foreground color), I then must fill again with my pre-selected "Color" of choice.

However, I do appreciate your assistance.  So, thank you.

This just started two-days ago, at least for me.  I have made no changes that I am aware of that might be causing this.  Is anyone else experiencing this issue?  Or, better yet, does anyone have a solution?  TIA

Can you tell us what method you are using?  I have just tried the usual Alt Back Space with v26.11 m3185 and it is filling the selected layer with the foreground colour.
