Can't drag and drop images onto canvas ("Could not complete your request because of a program error")

Up until recently I’ve been able to drag and drop images onto my canvas perfectly fine, then it suddenly decided to start giving me this error message: “Could not complete your request because of a program error”. I opened Adobe Creative Cloud to update Photoshop, it’s using the latest version. I hid all layers and saved the file under a different name, then saved them one layer at a time, same error. I tried renaming my Photoshop folder to “Adobe Photoshop 2026.old” (I do not have an “Adobe Photoshop Beta” folder like the article described) and restarted my computer, same error. I renamed my “com.adobe.unifidedpanel” folder to “~com.adobe.unifiedpanel”, same error. I have no idea what to do.

The “Learn how to fix” button under the error window doesn’t even direct me to an article on this particular issue. It sends me to a page about saving files.
