24.1.1 Navigation and Zoom sometimes stops working / freezes

Not sure what's going on here, but occasionally (still not sure what the triggers are), PS will just not let me navigate / zoom anymore and tool functionallity is invisable.  I know it's actually zooming / navigating because the side bars are moving, but nothing changes on the artboard / screen.  I can save work and restart PS and it starts working again for a time.  I feel like this only started with this most recent update.

Attached is my system info.  Please help!

Well, I disabled the UHD per step 7, we'll see if that works.  I have to say though, not sure why it would have just started doing this after the last update and I've been using PS for years with the same computer setup...either way, we'll see I guess.

Well I haven't had the issue for a couple of weeks so I guess disabling the UHD seemed to have worked, but again, I still don't understand what changed, but cest' le vie!

Exactly the same issue for me on Photoshop 24.2.0

Hi @Emac_trademark its not that PS isn't seeing the other GPU - but it could be interfering with renderings, etc. Hence why Adobe recommends disabling the discreet (Step 7).

Hi Sameer, thanks for your input, but as my response to Kevin indicated, I don't see anywhere that my UHD is being used for Photoshop, so I don't think any of that applies.  I could be wrong, but please confirm from my last screenshots and this one below.

One of the possibilities after what @Kevin Stohlmeyer added, you can try updating the UHD drivers through the Intel Driver assistant. Once that is done, try these two series of steps:

  • Ensure no stale preferences in your Photoshop. Go to the location of the preference folder below and rename it to backup. https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html

    • Windows 10/11: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings
    • Press Windows + R & type this is the Run Window - %APPDATA%\Adobe

    • Rename the Adobe Photoshop folder by adding a .old at the end. (Adobe Photoshop 2023 > Rename > Adobe Photoshop 2023. old)

  • On Windows, the GPU info & Logs location is %APPDATA%\Adobe\CameraRaw. A shortcut to get to this folder on Windows is:

    • Press the Windows + R
    • Enter %APPDATA%\Adobe\CameraRaw

    • Rename the GPU & Logs folder in this directory by adding .old at the end. (GPU.old & Logs.old)
    • Restart Photoshop, which should capture the updated driver & hardware capabilities.

Let us know how it goes. Thanks!

Hi Kevin, thanks for the info.

I followed the link and the instructions, but it appears photoshop and sniffer were already added to the 3D settings and I don't see anywhere in the drop list that doesn't already have my GTX card chosen or Use Global Settings, which is set for the GTX card.  But I honestly don't see a straight up option in the drop list for selecting the GTX card for all GPU activity for Photoshop.  Screen shots below...am I missing something?

Hi @Emac_trademark you have two graphics cards - Your GTX and a discreet UHD. The UHD does not meet requirements.

Heres how to address that:
