A bit of a rant I'm afraid.

I paid my monthly subscription for both Illustrator 30.4 and Photoshop 27.7.0 yesterday. All was working fine. Quit both apps yesterday at the end of the days work. Went to launch Photoshop today only to find that it had been uninstalled.

Managed to get hold of Adobe who agreed that for some reason it had been uninstalled (I never did it….. why would I?), and so they remotely reinstalled it for me.

Here’s the gripe. All of my custom brushes that are based around those Kyle brushes in the Megapack, and which I have spent over a year making and saving- gone! Not just a few brushes but hundreds of them. Had I known it was possible for this to happen, then I would have saved them to an external drive.

Has this happened to anybody else?

To say that I am rather peeved would be an understatement!! 😡

Thanks for your feedback. Sorry to hear that you had a similar (but not the same) experience. I never received an answer from Adobe as to why this happened. Just along the lines of “These things happen”. Yes, lesson learned there and I have definitely taken your advice, and I’m backing everything up now.

As I’m going on, I’m finding more things that are not there any longer, just found all of my saved canvases have gone too 😡. That I can live with though, the loss of the brushes is the hardest thing to swallow. But, I’ll start again, create custom brushes as I go and remember to back them up to an external source this time.

Just a word of warning to everyone out there, that if this happened to me, it could happen to you.

I haven’t experienced that with Photoshop, though recently I experienced a bit of a disappearing act concerning fixups and profiles in Acrobat (which is not part of the Cloud License).

I could not judge whether these issues are particular to Adobe products, but saving all custom presets (in the case of Photoshop that would include actions, brushes, styles, workspaces, patterns, proof setups, …) and ideally backing them up occasionally is definitely recommended.

I hope you can get over the annoyance, adapt your practices to allow for such mishaps and move on.
