ACTION save for web saves in different sizes every time...

Hi there,

I've been looking for an answer in this forum but couldn't find it.

I want to create a new action to save for web all my vertical images and later do the same thing  to save all my horizontal images.

So, I create a new action and RECORD:
EXPORT - SAVE FOR WEB (LEGACY) -

PRESET: JPEG HIGH

QUALITY 60

CONVERST TO SRGB

IMAGE SIZE: HEIGHT: 1020 (and I leave the width to be completed automatically with the slave button on).

QUALITY: BICUBIC SHARPER.

SAVE: in a new folder I created on my desktop.

STOP RECORDING.

When I open new images and hit that action, it works well. But then I check the sizes of the new saved images and all the sizes are different. NOt one of them are saved at 1020x680 pixeles.

Why is my action not working well?

Anyone could fix this?

This is my second day searching online for an answer....

Please help!

Thanks! Mercedes

Correct answer JJMack

No that is how it is designed to work

Its Photoshop link icon which will constrain  the resize to the current aspect ratio. The other side would be set to the value needed to maintain the images current aspect ratio so the image content will not distort.  What the width would be set to depends  the percent you change the height by.  The width will be changed the same percentage.

Oh I see

so, there's no way to create an action the way I wanted....

I'll probably just use adobe bridge like suggested in the link I attached before...

guess that's only FAST WAY to save the photos for web

Thanks so much for help JJ!!!!

There is. Record the action with File > Automate > Fit Image first, then Save For Web. This is what JJ suggested above.

Fit Image defines a rectangle for the image to always fit into, whatever the longest side is. So you only need one action, not two.

Did any image before the resize have a 51:34 Aspect ratio like  1020:680 is? Did all resized images have a 1020 pixel height?  All image with a 51:34 Aspect Ratio should resize to 1020x680 if you were resizinf toe a 1020 width. How can you have an image resized to a height have a height of 680.

Hi JJMack, thanks for answering.

I believe they have a similar ratio, not that exact one.

But that's the reason I leave the slave button on, so that at least one side is 1020 px and the other side is whatever the ratio would be..

does it make sense?

I wanted to fix my typos. You stated you were resizing to a height of 1020 not 680.

Did any image before the resize have a 51:34 Aspect ratio like  1020:680 is? Did all resized images have a 1020 pixel height?  All image with a 51:34 Aspect Ratio should resize to 1020x680 if you were resizing to a 1020 width. How can you have an image resized to a height 1020 have a height of 680.

Use Photoshop Plu-in Fit Image halever it will not use Bicubic Shateper it uses Bicubic.

Menu File>Automate>Fit Image ... set in 1020 for both width and height.

The Max side will be 1020

Or Install Image Processor Pro Plug-in you cans set in 1020 for bothe width and height and set Bicubic Sharper.
