Question

Adobe products crash my system unexpectedly.

I have previously used Adobe Photoshop CS4 with no real issues.

Earlier this year I subscribed to CC2017 and have now upgraded to CC2018.

THE PROBLEM.

1.   Using 1/3rd party plug-ins such as Redfield and Alien Skin, unexpectedly crashes my complete system before results can be saved.  Previously this wasn't an issue with CS4, but it is now with all my PS versions.

It is not just 1/3rd party plug-ins.

2.   Using AUTOMATE, and PHOTOMERGE crashes my system, where previously in CS4 I have been able to merge up to 30 DNG images without issue.

3.   Using any select option, with FILL and CONTENT AWARE crashes my system.

4.   This morning I was viewing Horseshoe Bend | Immersion View I have posted a tutorial of … | Flickr   This works ok within the photostream but if I connect to Panorama Viewer for Flickr which uses Adobe Flash, it crashes my system.  There is no warning and no crash reports.

It looks to me like any 'high intensity' Adobe application causes my system to run out of memory and then just crashes everything.

What is the solution please?

Photoshop should not be able to crash or freeze a modern OS, quote from Mr.Cox:

If the entire machine is freezing (requiring a reset or power cycle), shutting down, or rebooting - then you are looking at a bug in the OS, a bug in a low level driver, or defective hardware.  Applications cannot cause those behaviors on modern OSes.

The most common causes we've seen are: defective RAM, defective motherboards, defective hard drives, defective GPUs or VRAM, and bugs in some low level drivers (USB, video, and SATA mostly).

Re: Photoshop CC freezes PC - HARD restart needed

Photoshop freezing my system entirely.
