Adobe, when are you going to fix the bug in PhotoshopCC18 that corrupts files?
I spent an entire day yesterday working on a file that wasn't very large compared to other files I've worked on and was unable to reopen it for further edits after saving it. It was saved as a .psd file. This is the error message I received: Could not complete your request because of a program error. Quitting photoshop and restarting the computer did not work.
Earlier in the day yesterday, every single screenshot ( .png) file that I opened was fragmented with horizontal white stripes and only some of the channels showing.
Quitting out of photoshop and starting it up again helped, but I can't keep doing that everytime.
I never uninstalled CS6 when I upgraded to CC so I decided to try to open the file using that. It sort of worked. I had to flatten the file in the process of opening the file in CS6 but I WAS ABLE TO OPEN IT! I just hope my client doesn't want any changes because then I have to start over.
YOU NEED TO FIX THIS BUG!!! I only had this happen to one file, but I've been seeing posts by other people that have had this happen to many files and have had the same issue with the PNG files. This is affecting our workflow. I'm on a tight deadline, so I don't even have time to try to do some of the things I've seen suggested and the file repair software available on line is not in my budget. I've been using Photoshop for 25 years and never experienced anything like this.
I installed the latest upgrade last night, version 19.1.2 Does this update have the bug fixed?
Until I am sure of that, I'm going to go back to CS6 for this project. I'm too scared to have more files go bad.
