After Auto-Align, is there an automatic way to save just the overlapping region?

Hello,

 

After using Auto-Align Layers (which works amazingly well, by the way), there is an area of common overlap of the two aligned images and usually areas of both images outside of that common overlap.

 

Would anyone know of a built-in automatic Photoshop function to subsequently save just this common area after the alignment is complete? I can use the Crop toolby hand of course, but I'm working with hundreds of images and would prefer an automatic method, if one exists.

 

I believe I could approximate this with an assumption of how much to crop in on all 4 edges of the aligned images, but a quantity of aligned pixels will have to be sacrified as the images vary slightly in size and in this case, every aligned pixel is useful.

Maybe you can try to make an action for photoshop and it will do it everytime you play itt to all of your photos.

Hi Mariam,

Thanks, that's a good suggestion. I was checking to see if there was anything built-in, as it were, like an "AND" operation for images. I have designed a series of steps now that works on an individual pair of overlapping images on two layers now, and I will put that into an action and go from there.
