All my photoshop colours are black?

Dear Community,

I just updated my phototshop to the newest version after not using it for a while. Now whenever I open it every colour possible is black. I can't change the colour in the colour tab, the swatches tab or anywhere else. The square that should show every shade of a colour just shows black. Does anyone know how to get it to work again? I have tried reinstalling it, but that did not work either and I really need it 😞

The most likely cause is a broken monitor profile. This is not set in Photoshop, but is set in the Windows operating system and used by Photoshop.

Type color management into the windows search bar. It should open a box showing your default monitor profile.

As a test change that profile to sRGB IEC61966-2.1

Then re-open Photoshop (Photoshop just picks up the monitor profile when it opens)

If that resolves the issue, it is not a permanent solution but does confirm the cause. The correct next step is to make a profile that describes your actual monitor using a hardware device such as the i1Display.
